A World-Electronic music producer and pioneer, Amani Friend has released countless Albums, EPs, and Remixes since 1995.  Drawing on deep threads of Electronic, World, Dub, and Yogic influences, Amani weaves soundscapes that comprise a Music Beyond Borders; sound visions that immerse the listener in a journey into inner spaces and otherworldly sonic dimensions, complete with dubby-dance grooves that bear repeated listening and heavy rotation on CD players and iPods across the planet.

Amani’s roots are in the southwest deserts, with innumerable tribal dance rituals across New Mexico, the Mojave, and the Black Rock Desert of northern Nevada. An ongoing collaboration with fellow music producer Treavor Moontribe began as the Amani vs. Teapot sessions in the '90s, and later paved the way to the formation of the Desert Dwellers, a ‘virtual band’ that also includes Rara Avis. The talents of these three sound alchemists have combined across cyberspace, resulting in dance tracks and downtempo grooves that make for truly memorable experiences. Desert Dwellers have found their work released on such labels as White Swan, Omnis, Iboga, System, Flow, Six Degrees, and Native State. Skillfully blending deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices and culture-crossing instrumentation into a sonic incense for mind and body, Desert Dwellers offers a spellbinding hybrid with echoes of our tribal past and future.

As a co-founder of Desert Dwellers and both the music labels Desert Trax and Yogitunes, Amani is deeply attuned to the positive impact that intentional music can have on listeners. Offering forth tracks specifically designed for yoga and meditation practices, Amani's work aims to awaken visions on the part of his listeners. New ideas and insights are not uncommon experiences for fans of this music - and these epiphanies are certainly by design on the part of this composer, who is part producer and part shaman in creating experiences through music that are unique to any genre. A driving force in the Shaman’s Dream collective, his musical scores for over 30 Yoga and health related DVDs include such yogis as Shiva Rea and many others, and  he's also produced many remixes for Deva Premal, Jai Uttal,  Donna DeLory, Karsh Kale, and Deep Forest.
